Appalachian Access is not an emergency service and does not monitor messages around the clock.
Who Appalachian Access is
Appalachian Access is a patient-access organization serving rural Appalachian communities. We run a mobile field clinic — a trailer with pop-up telehealth pods that serves as a physical access point for specialty care — and we connect people to specialty care, clinic days and clinical research through patient navigation. Navigation is a paid service: $79 for a 45-minute session.
We are not a hospital, insurer or medical practice. We do not employ your clinicians, and we do not deliver treatment.
What navigation includes
- • Explain your options in plain language
- • Look for specialists, clinics and clinical trials near you
- • Help with paperwork, scheduling and preregistration
- • Help you plan travel, transportation and telehealth access
- • Follow up after a referral to see whether you got care
What navigators cannot do
- • Diagnose a condition or tell you what is wrong
- • Prescribe, change or advise on medication or treatment
- • Give medical, legal or insurance advice
- • Guarantee an appointment, acceptance into a trial, or coverage
- • Provide emergency or crisis care
Privacy notice
We collect only what helps us find you care: your location, age, condition or specialty need, travel limits, insurance status, transportation barriers, contact preference and any accessibility or language needs. We do not ask for a Social Security number, insurance ID number or document uploads to get started.
Your information is stored securely and visible only to you and the Appalachian Access navigators working your request. We never sell personal information. Reporting we share with partners, counties and funders is de-identified and aggregated — counts by county, specialty and travel distance, never individual records.
You can update or delete the information in your access profile at any time, or ask a navigator to close your request and stop contact.
Consent to be contacted
When you send a request you choose how a navigator reaches you — text, phone call or email — and you are consenting to contact by that method about your request. Message and data rates may apply for text messages. You can change your channels on your notification preferences page or reply STOP to a text at any time.
A navigator will contact you within two business days.
How to report incorrect information
Providers move, clinic days change and study details get updated. Every provider, trial and clinic-day listing shows the date it was last verified. If something looks wrong, tell us and we will check it.
Email navigators@appalachianaccess.org, call (276) 970-3072, or send a note to a navigator.
